Our mission is to promote responsible care and training for household pets through education and public awareness, and when appropriate, to provide a safe and sheltering haven for lost and abandoned animals pending placment in suitable permanent homes. We love pets!

About The Lakes Area Humane Society
The Lakes Area Humane Society (LAHS) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, formed in 1989 by a group of concerned citizens wishing to make a difference animals in our community.
Donations and fundraising events provide over 20 percent of LAHS funding. Support from businesses and individuals are essential to fulfill our mission.

Our animal shelter is open to the public Mondays and Wednesdays (12-6pm), Thursdays and Fridays (12-5pm) and Saturday (11am-4pm) at 3811 Nevada Street SW in Alexandria (tel. 320.759.2260).
