About The Lakes Area Humane Society

Best FriendThe Lakes Area Humane Society (LAHS) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, formed in 1989 by a group of concerned citizens wishing to make a difference animals in our community.

Donations and fundraising events provide over 20 percent of LAHS funding. Support from businesses and individuals are essential to fulfill our mission.



On the Floor No More!

Donate a BedOur dogs would love to sleep on Kuranda Dog beds but we can't afford them for everyone. If you would like to donate a bed at a special wholesale price for a another dog to sleep in comfort, please donate a Kuranda dog bed.


Our Hours & Location

Our animal shelter is open to the public Mondays and Wednesdays (12-6pm), Thursdays and Fridays (12-5pm) and Saturday (11am-4pm) at 3811 Nevada Street SW in Alexandria (tel. 320.759.2260).
